starter acting strangely
Well maybe it wasn't the reg. Bike started fine this am, I stopped, then I turned the key hit the starter buttonand nothing. Now I had power, but absolutely nothing when I hit the switch. I searched but didn't find anything with these symptoms. I bump started it, then got home and turned it off. Hit the starter switch and started right up. Any ideas?
I would think it is a faulty starter button.
The starter solenoid is also suspect.
When it happens you need to press the start button while you are kneeling down and listening to the right side cover. You should hear the solenoid make contact and the bike should start. If you don't hear the solenoid engage, then the starter button is not making the contact needed to energize the solenoid. If the starter button is working you should hear the solenoid engage. If the solenoid engages but the bike does not turn over, the plate inside it is corroded and making intermittent contact and needs to be cleaned.

I don't want to repeat myself, but as I stated in an earlier post by you, try NOT using the kill switch. Use the ignition switch to shut her down. I'm not saying this is your problem, but using the kill switch has caused me problems restarting in the past.
