Default Splitting Cases - 1996 CBR1000F

Gang - I am about to remove the engine and split the cases on my 1996 CBR1000F to replace the alternator chain tensioner (and handle some other things while i am in there). I would VERY much like to avoid disturbing the head and cylinders - just flip the engine over and pull the lower case half, leaving the crank, transmission, and everything above that intact (as illustrated in a couple threads).

I have found one post on this site that claims the head and cylinders need to be pulled for 1993-up models in order to access (perhaps three) bolts to allow the cases to be split. I have not bene able to match this up with any shop manual or fiche reference material.

Would really like to verify the situation 100% before proceeding - the required parts inventory hinges SUBSTANTIALLY on this.

Anyone?
