So long 1996 CBR1000F, may your new owner treat you well.
I sold my 1996 CBR 1000F on Saturday to a gentleman who I'm sure will take very good care of the old girl. That 1996 never, ever gave me one single bit of trouble on the 40,000 miles I put on her, she came with 6,000+ and I left her with some 45,000. Other than tires and chain and sprockets and plug changes, 1 new stock air filter, she only needed gas and oil changes and one brake pad change. I will miss that bike. At first, I had the time to ride for fun with friends but as the years went on, there was no one left to ride with and it became soley a commuter bike for a 50-55 mile roundtrip from spring to fall saving my truck some 6,000 miles a year. I had my girl out on it a few times in the season but she was and still is scared of the highway. Goodbye CBR, I will miss you but I'm going to consider a used CBR1100XX so at least there is still some hope unless I get out of streetbikes altogether. This winter will be the first time in 11 years that I won't have a bike for the spring but there is time to look this winter.

Thanks for understanding Dragon64, you made my day/night. Strange the emotions are for sure. A motorcycle is definitely different than a car/truck. I never sold of or got rid of a car or truck that I gave a darn about, that is for sure. Thanks again.

You certainly will miss the 1000 F I sold my old 92 and bought this years Blackbird what a difference the 92 was a lot more comfortable and the pain sheme was better ont he 92 soon to be changed on the bird to a Tangerine metalic with mirrored silver badging. You will love the smoothnees of the bird and boy its light compaired to the 1000 F you come into a corner and have to do somethign about it straight away when the 1000 F just took it in her stride. But dont get me wrong I got used to the bird and from June to now I have done 10,000 Kls on her and wouldnt swap her for anything

I think this is going to be my only salvation, to get an 1100XX. I remember in about 2000 when I bought a 1985 CR500R, the power was great but the brakes and suspension were not up to the power, then got a 1995 and was in heaven. The 96 1000F was great and did everything well but I will expect the 1100XX to be even better as I'm only 5'7" 165. I will see what might be available here in New England over the winter.

I am actually the new owner of this CBR1000F it was a pleasure meeting youCR500! I've already taken off all the body work, fixed a couple of broken tabs etc. and have a new chain and sprockets on order. I have a 1997 CBR1100XX that I rode all last winter if it was 20 degrees. This is going to be my winter ride, heated gloves, heat the seat, and add a taller windscreen. Does anyone have any experience or info on a taller ST type screen? Thanks for any info and keep CR in mind if you know of anyone selling a Blackbird. Ride Safe
