Ain't no casting marks in my honest opinion , not when ya copy that pic out and
blow it up on the PC locally.

So Malbojah can ya still hear the same noise at idle ? or did the replacement basket
do the job and no noise ?

The noise is less, which leads me to think that the alternator chain is the real culprit. And I'm not going to split the engine. So when it goes, I'll have to put one of my other bikes on the road

Well good luck with it, the oil pump drive chain is usually the one that makes the most noise a lot of times so it may be what you are hearing over that side of the motor. Gets
pretty slack sometimes.....just my 2cents
