Hi Rhino,

What type of Battleaxe tyre are you using?

I have the BT020 on mine and I think they're superb in the dry and great in the wet. Living in the u.k and riding all year round i see my fair share of rain and haven't had any problems with them.

I can spin the back wheel but it really needs provoking.

You also say you have 5900 miles on the back tyre with 2 mill tread left?? That tells me they're probably not the 020's.

If you want to go 10K + miles between new tires, then they are what you want. If you want to be able to corner and ride in the wet, go for something else.
Are you kidding? I only ever get about 4500 out of a rear and about double out of the front.

Hello
I have BT020 and I measured today I have 4mm left in the middle.
The spinning don´t need much provoking.

In wet conditions:
3/4 throttle 2nd gear 7000rpm it spins.
In corners after a crossing I can hardly touch the throttle in 1:st gear before the rear comes out

Terrible
Must be something wrong. I will change to Metzler this week.
I will go on track in Falkenberg, Sweden friday the 15:th this month so I have to be prepared :-)

Edit:spelling

I reckon you must have a serious contamination issue. Maybe something to do with the de-greaser you're using.

You've got 4mm left after how many miles???

Don't change to Metz. Believe me, the Bridgy is a better wet weather tyre. If you're gonna change, i'd go for the Avon Av45/46 st tyres.

As earlier stated 5900 miles, (9500 kms if I calculated correctly)
The Metzler is already ordered so its too late.

It could be one other thing, that the chain oil splashes the tire.

Please DO NOT take this wrong cause I have done it. Is the tire mounted in the right direction?

Yes it is, I checked again to be sure.
I didn´t mount the tire, a local firm did.

Could there be a difference in tire performance between the older bikes with the thin tyre and the newer bikes with the wide?

I am on my second set of BT014 hp's. I am taking wet turns 2/3 speed of dry. I got the front to last 5k miles, and only 3k miles on the back. IMO they grip very well, but have a short life. I'll stay comfortable with a shorter life for my confidence in the tire. I wouldn't call myself a basic rider, maybe an intermediate if the 3 levels were novice, intermediate, expert. They do well. adjust tire pressure by 1 or two pounds and I notice the difference on cold or warm tires.

I am planning to not be so brand specific and start to consider alternatives next change around.
