it's not that difficult

"There are two main types of alternator that are fitted to most bikes, each requiring a different type of regulator rectifier.

Our CBR1000F has a Field Control Type (FCT) and requires that specific type of RR.

Unfortunately the advertised RR referred to is designed for a Permanent Magnet Rotor alternator (PMR) and hence the RR and reference is not applicable to our CBR1000F."

This bike is getting on my nerves. So many unseen hurdles. Wanted to start her up last night only to find that the SC24 fuel tank has a 9mm pipe and a vacume hose where the SC21 carbs I have to use require a 13mm hose and don't have a connection for the vacume tap. Bugger! Add to that the side covers don't fit with the water hoses running to the back of the head. I'm starting to think I should look for a 2nd hand SC24 engine but the budget isn't there at the moment

Guys, please help. Is the later head with the water pipes on the side a direct bolt on to the early motor?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the water / coolant channels will not match up
as is born out if you check the cylinder head gasket numbers - they are totally different
with no common "replaced by" updated part #'s

so I have to swop barrels and head off the 24 onto the 21? The 21 has only run 30km since rebuild so rings should be fresh enough to bed into another barrel.

Then the question moves one step further - do the SC24 jugs line up with an SC21
crankcase.

Unchartered territory to which I do not have an answer for I'm afraid

I know the barrels have different part numbers but I think that is down to the 24 having a water pipe fitting on the back for the pump breather hose. Does anyone know if it will physically fit?
