SC21 Engine in SC24 frame
Hi Guys,
I really hope someone here can help me. I recently bought a really ratty SC21 and later found a beautiful SC24. I was told the engines were identical but they aren't. After a lot of struggling I got the 21 engine into the 24 frame, but I now find there are lugs on the frame preventing the two water connectors on the back of the head from fitting. The pulse generator also has four wires and the plug on the sc24 loom only has two. Do I need to swop the generator for a sc24 one? Please guys, can anyone help me out.

Welcome to the CBR Forum David,
It has been done, in the last couple of weeks there has been discussion about the loom for the 2 wires/4 wires when the engines were changed.
Sprock will remember much better than me on that.
It would be nice to know where you are located as well.
Cheers, SB

No. I found one on the net, but it is for the last models with CBS. Helpful to an extent, but doesn't cover a cross breed 21/24, wonder why...
I am thinking that cutting the water connectors before the bend might clear the frame tabs, but then I have pipes facing the back of the bike. Doubt hanging the radiator on the tailpiece is the answer. Someone must have a better plan

Here are the links from Naga_Thai's signature - he's another bloke with magic fingers on the CBR1000F internals and keeping the bikes running sweet.

He has a '90 but the Haynes manual should also cover the '87/88.
Not sure about the pipe - and the radiator on the tail piece would cause too much drag!
I'll see if I can fire the neurones and find that conversation on the 2 vs 4 wires.
Cheers, SB
