Not a good idea. Leave the SC21 alternator in place, move the Mk1 loom and CDI across to the SC24 frame.

Right best to match up the P/G harness and CDI going onto the SC24 - & then you'll
need the R/R will lose the kickstand kill switch and will get into a few customizations
up at the gauges and controls etc.

On the plumbing : in lieu of the sc24 side ports that run from the 3 way T just below
the Rad Cap - just extend the sc21 around to the T - trying to remember which
frame lugs you speak of- have a pic ? Got a grinder ?

Isn't the wiring now sorted? The ignition side of it I mean. Its a sc24 chassis and the engine now has a single pickup pulse generator from a sc24. What am I missing? I'll load up a photo of the lug in a sec...

There's the lug, currently bent out of the way. My plan is to trim a piece off so it can go back in position and the pipe can clear. Then do the same on the other side and paint with hammerite to fight off corrosion. Should just be basic plumbing from there on out.

Is there any difference between the SC21 and SC24 regulator? I've got to replace the plug anyway due to it melting, both bikes have melted plugs so to my mind there is a strong possibility both regulators are shot. Thoughts?

Put it this way - putting a used one in is not the ideal way to go as they are a
"consumable" item in my opinion - they all eventually burn out. I'd put a new one
on - but sure you could if you were hell bent on it - wire an old one in that is

You should use a 21Reg/rec with the 21 alternator.
The wiring for a 24 reg rec has different wiring.

The wiring is all screwed to hell anyway, when the 21s plug burnt the PO moved the wires around in the plugs to use areas that weren't burnt so it wouldn't match anything in the world anyways. Since the right thing to do is replace it, what's the best option? I've heard people say use a Suzuki one, but which one is best? Note I want a bolt on or something close to bolt on. Had enough of modding on this bike
