Rpm!?!?
Nah, its not that big of a question. I was just wondering at what motor rpms you guys are usually cruising around. I'm usually in 6th gear by 60 mph, but I was thinking maybe I should be saving 6th for the interstate.
Normal riding 4-5000 rpm is my 'happy place'
there's normally enough grunt there to over-take and a lot more is only one cog down
If I'm riding the highway or feeling lazy, it's straight into 6th asap.
BTW on my bike with standard sprockets 5000rpm is 80mph indicated.

I'm in top gear as soon as it makes sense. Most of the time pretty conservative riding around home and work commutes. These bike have plenty of torque for one up riding. Not that I'm concerned that much with MPG but I used 20% less gas(= more range) than the rest of the guys on the spring ride to The Dragon in April. I have stock gearing and would rate my self a 7/10ths type of rider.
All depends with me, too, but generally between about 4,500-5,500RPMs when cruising.
I'm never in 6th gear unless I'm on a long, fast, straight road that's at least 55mph or a highway.
I'm up real close to 5k at 75mph on the highway in 6th with 17/44 gearing.
My average mpg for just running around locally is about 36mpg.

Pretty much the same here. Plenty of bottom end so on the highway I'm in 6th by 100kph. In 80 kph zones I usually knock it down to 5th and 4th for 60kph roads (I don't speed in town..to many kids etc.). I don't bother even bother to leave 6th to overtake normally but sometimes I'll go down three gears and hit warp just for fun. On some back roads I take it right up to max revs in the early gears..just to 'clean out the cobwebs'.
