Hmm well, that's pretty much what I've thought at first, but actually, Shell is not a popular brand amongst bikers here, most popular oil brands are Motul and Castrol.
But anyway, I've asked how much does the Rimula costs, and there's no difference between that and the Motul 5100, Castrol GPS or Ipone 15.5 wich are all motorcycle-specific oils.
I don't see a reason why I should use Diesel oil on my engine... if it were cheaper and get the same results, I might consider it, but it's not the case here.

I always thought the same thing, Pete... that it should be universally cheaper.
Maybe a couple of the UK guys can chime in here, too.
I was told that Rimula in the UK is about 28/gal and that it wasn't much cheaper at all than some of the moto oils. Not sure, though. From what others have said, it is a lot cheaper.

Strange but Shell Rimula D extra in the UK is sold in the main by MARINE suppliers for marine diesel engines !! - perhaps a marketing ploy.
It still costs £20 GBP for 4 litres which is the same price I currently pay for Motul 5100
Guess I need to do some more digging around to find a good oil at the right price
