Good for you CosmoBob. BTW, how did the CBR 1000 F stand up against the Fireblade? Did you get the opportunity to trythe Blade?

I would be interested to hear how you got on with the blade as well; I rode a 1999 model a year ago and it was agony for me.

Well, after months of rain here, we are in for a change! Yes, it's England, it's nearly April and we are getting S N O W over the next few days. Amazing. My bike has been polished a thousand times in the last few weeks without getting ridden once!

Please, no replies from anyone in warm countries!!!!

Thanx R1000! I like to hear (and see) about your trips to beautiful sightings around here.
Your bike looks great! (The missus said: "Great looking castle!")

About the Fireblade: we weren't racing at all, just cruising, but actually I think I was ahead most of the time, mostly I guess because of the terribly torn rear tyre on the 'blade.

I didn't try the FireBlade out - it actually didn't occur to me as I was so happy on my own ride, but I certainly hope I'll get the chance soon. All I did was sitting on it to get the "feel", and it was far more comfortable than I'd expected - something like the Blackbird.

I lasted about 30 minutes on a Blade, and was begging to give it back....to me, it's nothing like a Blackbird for comfort, being a pure sports bike. By the way, my CBR will run away from the early 900 blade, but the 929 onward are too quick for me with my standard gearing.....time to turbo the old girl.......

Today whenI looked at the outdoor thermometer it was +1 Deg C, not too bad in the morning. At a secondglance I saw it read +10C, I misread the firts time. A couple of hours on the bike of course [8D]. The trip was planned to go toUppsala, a largeold historical town in Sweden. When I came to Sigtuna I had to stop andfill the tank. I looked around a bitit seemed to be quite an interesting place. http://sal.sigtuna.se/turism/

Among others, they claim to have the oldest street in Sweden, and there are old church ruins etc. I spent more than an hour looking around and had a meal at a simple restaurant in the harbor. This is a VERY popular meeting point for Swedish bikers in the summer. I was surpriced that I was the only biker there. It seemed to be colder, justaround 5C in this region, which explains.

Back home with a short visit to Arlanda airport that is near, E18 to Västerås for a swim and the back to the warmer climate. It is still about 9C here.

That's a good one!
I took a ride to Grönsöö slott and checked out the beautiful surroundings. I also took a look at a church and a Runestone - there seems to be quite a few of those around. Nice little trip - but it got freezing after a while, so I cancelled my planned excursion to the aviation museum in Västerås (Good thing as I later discovered they're only open Sundays). Guess I need to take some warmer clothing on! Being a viking doesn't always help!

However, I got a chance to try out my new toy: a little gps that i carried in my pocket so I could listen to driving instructions from a pleasant Swedish female voice. It worked pretty well.

I still really don't like riding on gravel, so I'm playing with the thought on getting another ride: something like an Africa Twin.

Yes, I will if I'm confident in my riding - don't wanna make a fool of myself. So I hope I will get a lot of training and a few things with the bike sorted out.

I will perhaps also take a trip to Sigtuna and enjoy myself like you did.

Shadow: Great, you're speaking Scandinavian!
