Nah, too much petty crime - come to South Africa, where the crimes are SERIOUS....he he
Winter here is mild too, around 15C.
Come and ride the "valley of 1000 hills" with us on a Sunday, and we'll show you some curves.

Well yes, obviously you can't start the bike from the kill switch. I thought that was elementry information. What I was trying to get across was that a lot of riders use the "kill" switch to shut off the engine and when they go to start the bike, they flip it to "run" when there is no reason to. Guess its just habit.....like shutting off your fuel everytime, how many riders do that!

I would love to see S. Cali. it must be heaven to ride those hilly mountian roads. Do you have many "eyes" watching you on those back roads?

Gill, I was skiing at Sunday River, Maine last week. I met a group of 63 people from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
It must be cold your way to drive them out to Maine.

They said it was a 6-hour drive. You can see Mt. Washington form the top of the slopes. It looks like maybe 45 minutes more to the Mt. Washington auto road. It is a 30 to 45 minute climb from there with the temp. needle just about pegged. One guy rode a Sears Twingle form Connecticut to the top. I am bringing this up because you had mentioned that you may be making the trip. This year it will be motorcycles only on June 16 and 19. I am making the trek on the 19th and plan to summit around noon. I have to depart home around 5am to get back around 10pm.
I spend 17 hours in the saddlethe day of the ride; I only stop for gas and coffee. At the bottom, the Harley Owners Group (HOG) sells burgers for a kid’s charity. I just love that ride no matter how ugly the weather gets.

Edit: My Avatar is for one of my Mt. Washington rides.

The kill switch should never be used to turn on (or off) your engine on a regular basis, only in an emergency; this is basic information, in Sweden at least. Any other information is wrong. The reason is that the strong current in the long run will kill the kill switch

In India the cows are said to be holy, in Enköping the same is true for cowls.

Yes, TimBuckTwo, I'm leaving for Mt Washington that week too. I'm staying down for about a week though. The roads in NH are quite nice I hear. I'm taking the CAT over from Yarmouth NS to Bar Harbor ME. Three hour ride opposed to 8 hours on the bike. I'll be doing the mountain on Monday and munchin on burgers afterwards! I thought about not wearing the helmet that day, but I think I'm so used to wearing my helmet that it would feel too wierd not to have it on. For those of you reading, NH has no helmet laws.

Damn snow here...I need to find something to ride soon....I'm going crazy here!!

Don't expect the weather to be on your side on the mountain. Three years ago it was foggy with 0-5 feet of visibility. Two years ago I could not put my bike on the side stand with the stand to the wind. The wind would push it over. You could hardly stand upright. Last year the weather was great as seen in the professional photo shot that I downloaded form the mountain sight. Near the top, look for a guy with a camera. Find your picture on the web site.

Ilike taking my helmet off just after I pay the $8 toll at the bottom. They will tell you that the speed limit is 25 MPH and no passing. There is nowhere to pass with the steady line of bikes in front of you and the steady line of bikes coming down. You will not come close to 25 MPH, maybe 8 -10 MPH. Taking my helmet off gives me the same gut wrenching feeling as running into my ex-wife however, I ride my bicycle faster that you will go on that road.

I have always gone on Thursday but now that they opened it up to Monday and Thursday, I may make the run on Monday if the weather is clear. Remember one thing before starting up the road; the warmest recorded temperature on the summit is 72ºF (22C). Look for snow in the shadows near the top.

Awesome! Cant wait to go. I'll have to take my chances with the weather, but 22c sounds pretty good right about now! The fog looks bad though. We may even extend the trip to NY state if all goes well. I havent visited it there in about 12 years, but dying to return.

If you ever get the chance you should come visit Nova Scotia in the summer. The Cabot Trail is stunning and a great ride if you like mountains and green ,lush country side.

We have the most productive diamond mines in the world, and to date have produced the biggest diamond ever found, the Cullinan, around 1087 carats or so.
Base jumping from the Storms River Bridge, and plenty of parasailing near to where I live.
Broad jumping too, we're good at that....
We also have better surfing than California...(that's sure to p...s someone off) he he
Was this a serious question ?
