Remove the seat from my CBR1000F-L 1991
Hi Guys,
I've just collected this wonderful machine, and before I started to post up pictures etc and ask loads of questions, lol. I was wondering if somebody can tell me how to remove the seat?
I have tried the key in the lock under the rear of the seat, but thats just for the helmet lock and can't seem to see anyway of removing the seat to get at the battery etc.
I hope somebody can help me here, a picture would be good to if possible.
Cheers,

if its the same as the '87-'88 Cane, the key will release the helmet lock and then if you keep turning it will rotate a cam that opens the seat lock. You then have to pull up on the back of the seat and pull the whole seat off, from the back.
Not a feature I'm very fond of. I find its always a pain in the ***.

Jing, you and I have the same bike. Welcome!
The lock under the seat you are talking about also is for taking the seat off.
On mine, there is a about a 1/8 turn of real easy turning for the helmet. Then the next 1/8 (which should be the 1/4 mark) it gets a little stiff. If you put a little effort, and I mean LITTLE (so if its broke you don't break the key off in there) it should turn a little more and the latch under the seat should open. Try pushing down on the back of the seat a little it may take the tension off a little.
They aren't the best, but maybe they'll help. But you got the right key in the right key hole!

Hi guys,
You'll be glad to hear that I managed to remove the seat, lol. Turns out that the latch was lose under the seat, so the rod had moved over the mechanism. Anyway all sorted now. But I have another problem which I hope you can help with.
The previous owner had recently had a new cam chain fitted, but after a few miles the engine had become noise on the top end, so he suggested I check the valve clearances. So after removing the tank, cam cover etc I checked everything out. But noticed that one of the inlet rocker arms has snapped around the screw/bolt. Anyway I have removed the camshaft and got the arm out, but now need to know where I can get another one from?
Any advice would be great.
Thanks,
Keith

in my opinion and it is only that, in an ideal world you should replace the cams and followers(rockers) as a set to ensure even wear of the cams and followers, but you should be able to get away with either a low mileage used set from your usual internet auction site,(the seller probably wont sell you a single one) or you could try a reputable motorcycle accessory dealer depending on you location
