Rear wheel won't rotate after reinstall
Hi everyone,
I had new tires put on the rims and now that I've reinstalled the rear tire, it's very difficult to rotate it.
The tire spins freely until the axle goes through the rear brake caliper bracket and the chain adjustment.
It's an 87 cbr 1000f hurricane. Great bike but this is giving me fits.
Any advice or pics with spacers showing would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rookiekc

Oh boy do I know this problem cos im getting it now. What tyres have you put on?
Is it making contact with the torque arm?
Mine does as ivejust found out after not quite gaetting it lined up properly, must have moved slightly as I torqued everything down. Also With mine ive just put rear pads on ( ebc) and have resorted to putting an old pad back in for clearance. ( see my thread on brake fluctuation)
Still having problems but thats for the other post.
By the way My rear tyre is 170/60/17 ( ithink and im sure they have put on a wider size)

my new tire is 160/60/17 but was 170/60/17.
I think my problem is with side collar (spacer).
The spacer that is there is different from the one that is in the manual so that's why I was hoping to see a picture in order to compare.
Without the spacer, it spins fine.
Thanks in advance for advice,
Kenan

If the manual you're talking about is the Honda shop manual that is linked to on this board, then the manual is for 93 and later bikes so it may not apply to your bike, especially considering that the later models use a wider rim and have linked brakes. Try this fiche for how the parts line up- http://fiche.ronayers.com/Index.cfm/...oup/REAR_WHEEL

Ok here is the state of the project on thursday october 16th:
Wheels received; tiresare good, bearings are good
Ordered the spacers for front and back wheel( yes they fit no problem). one spacer received waiting for 3 more
Front wheel won't accept old arrangement od spedometer;
Enquiring about a left sprockect cover with speedometer cable ( should retrofit).
Enquired about painting the wheels ( winter)
Waiting to see if my parts will come in tomorow so Ican install everything and test it this weekend if not it becomes a winter project as temperature is dipping quite low here at night ( this weekend they are calling for a maximum of ten degress during the day imagine at night.) If the parts are not comming in tomorow have to put the old wheels on to ride on sunday whcih will probably be the last ride of the years.
And you have a very disapointed[&o] guy because i did not received my parts, but it will be fun [8D]next summer, I'll keep you posted!
At first look the bike is going to look awesome but once the tires are worn I'll go down to a 160 to be able to fit the wheel hugger.
It should work, i have put wider rims on mine and it is awesome

Ok, just saorted mine out and this is how it looks.
Squating behind the rear tyre its:-
alxebolt (fixed to axle)
swingarm (LHS)
Washer that fits inside rim against seal
Tyre and rim
Washer (almost shape of cotton real, thickest side into wheel)
Flat washer
Alloy caliper bracket
Swingarm (RHS)
Flat washer
Locknut.
Hope this helps. If the flat washer is missing between caliper housing and Rim washer (cotton reel type) then the caliper housing locks against the disk.
Check that tyre isnt against the torque arm!
