Default Rear stand

The center stand has to be removed on the bird to clear theAkrapovicexhaust. I'm now usinga track type stand when lubricating the chain and changing tyre. I bought a pair of studs that are mounted on the swing arm. The swing arm needed to bedrilled and tap. Hopefully it won’t brake [&:]

We'll see if i have to unmount my centrestand when i change the exhaust, then i'll fix that kind of stand but i think there's a type that hooks under the swingarm and you dont have to drill ? If i remember right ....

I also have a rear stand that hooks under the swingarm, i.e. no drilling is required. I always used it on the Hurricane and it worked perfectlyfine. The good news, for you, is that it can not be used on the Bird. So, if you want it you canbuy it very cheap for e.g 150 kr. That was what I gave on sale at www.louis.de. It is fully chromed

Why did a traditional stand not work on your bird? My buddy has a 1997 1100XX and he had one that worked fine. Anyway, if you replace the exhaust on a CBR1000F you have to remove the center stand.

The actualrear stand that lifts under the swingarm, instead of lifting on studs (bobbins) is justto short. The last part of the birds swingarm is angled (cone shaped) and the stands holding plates doesn't reach to the flat section of this swingarm. The CBR 1000 F swingarm is straight out to the end so it can be used on that. In case the stand was a little longer it would work on the bird to. Perhaps this isa reason it was on sale. It is not often one can see a new and chromed stand in a shop for 20 dollars. http://www.louis.de/_101d69d98ab29be...&anzeige=0

I cannot use the stock center stand on the bird with the exhaust system that I have. The stand will clear but it is designed to rest on the left muffler and when that is discarded the stand will be pulled up on the chain. It is an easy fix to make a stop stud but it is also nice to get rid of as much weight as possible on heavy bikes. The birds’ center stand is not heavy though and it cannot contact ground at full left leans, as the CBR 1000 F center stand will.
