Default Rear shock question

Other than a mistake, can anyone think of a reason for someone to install the rear shock in backward? The PO seems to have thought the preload adjuster went forward and pointed left right above the chain. Before Icorrect it, I'm just wondering if I'm missing something here.

Hey:

Nope, probably just a mistake. Just turn it around when you have a chance.
Good luck.

Thanks. that's what I thought. I thought there might have been an offset or something. I can't really see with it in the bike. I'll turn it around then.

I think I would turn it around. Sounds like a mistake to me.

It was clearly a mistake, I fixed it today and what I didn'tnotice was that it made the rebound adjuster unavailable too. The guy I bought it from cllaimed to be employed as a mechanic at a Lexus dealership. Good thing they don't have many problems. I wouldn't trust him to change the oil in my grandson's mini bike. He messed up virtualy everything he touched.Thankfully he didn't he didn't touch too many things but I'm still finding little surprises so....

You are lucky, the po of my bike put in a wiseco big bore kit and managed to put the pistons in back to front(cut outs on top of pistons did not match valves too well), good luck in not finding too much more out of place.
