Rear shock Adjustment

Rear shock Adjustment
Hi, I have recently joined the forum, and in my introduction I stated that I felt I had a small handling issue with my 1993 CBR1000F (J model, I think it is). I am going to have to try a few things to get it sorted I know. Firstly, I would like to try and adjust the rear shock, I have searched the forum for a thread but cannont find one that answers my question, which is, with me weighing 19 stone, what would the recommended settings be and how would I go about doing this. I have heard the terms damping and rebound but have no clue really as to how they affect the settings. I also know there is a ( I think) a 8mm adjustment bolt on the shock, but what setting does this affect and which way should I turn it. Anyway, I ams ure you guys have a good idea what I am on about, any advice will be very much apprecited. Pics of my bike will be posted from when I get back from topping up my "milk bottle" tan.
Cheers,
Cheers,

shocklife?
First post, I just joined and am seeking similiar info.
I was wondering if mine was worn out, does anyone know the mileage shocks for a 2009 600 CBR? I got 12k/mi on it in just two years and the ride is really soft. It's a commuter so I didn't feel it was too bad but a collegue jumped on it said it was way too soft. I don't track it, it only serves as a commuter right now.
does the front need to be loaded a little? back shock need to be charged?
