Shadow, does Patrick have the old "short" CCT (he's got an 88). If he does, he'd surely want to go with the new style "long" one if he replaces his.

Probably does the original unit was REALLY short. New one is MUCH longer. See attached.

I also have an 88 with 17k miles on it. Can I get the new longer CCTon line? What's the part number?
I would also like to change my chain. From another post I gotCam Chain - 82RH2015 150 link and Cam Chain KL12-0408- 82RH2015 Master Link KL12-0353 are these Tsubaki parts?
Do I have to cut the new chain?
Sorry for all the questions. Maybe someone should put all this cct information in one post. Then we could say see this ..... post for all your CCT information.

The good news is someone has. Put a search out through the forum and you will come accross them. The rattle you get at low revs is a carractoristic of this bike and as you have noticed is intermitant. I would leave it for a while and see where it goes. No point giving yourself uneeded grief (you can get that back at home lol) As for the sticky 2nd gear. Tighten up the linkage and adjust the cush drive (bottom right of engine) THIS SHOULD EASE THE TIGHTNESS for you. The bike that you have has a good engine in it and dispit its age will keep going for a long time only needing services and minor adjustments. So dont panic about little rattles. She's just purring.

Good luck

Here's the link for all you Caners with lots of pretty pictures (we all like pictures, right!) of the replacement of the CC and CCT. Hats off to Ferlev for the post.

So what is the rattle noise? Is it just the chain flopping around or is the chain hitting something?

I'm putting in 20/50 today will let you know if it helps.

I did not notice any difference with the 20/50. I have the stock cct and chain. So I think I will change them.

I have a rattle on mine and eveyone I have talked to says its either the cam chain or the cam chain tensioner. I havent done much work on street bikes so I dont know how tough it is to change it. The rattle is almost rythmic and isnt as loud or noticable when the bike warms up. I have a 1991 1000f with a little over 40k miles.
