Why does my 900 fireblade grind into first gear. It only does it from starting off and going from neutrul to first. All other gears fine and even down shifting to first is ok when coming to a stop. I've hear i should be more deliberate with my foot or pulling in the clutch a few time before starting the engine. Even adjusting the clutch. I think it's common on bikes and not like cars. Any advice please.

 

Whats your idle set to? Too high and it will grind. Also, what are you using for oil?

 

I get that too. I use 10/40 castrol oil and the idle is set to about 1200rpm. My old CBR600F2 did the same thing, I just thought it was normal on Hondas. Not so much a grind, more like a clunk.

 

Hi sorry for the delay in replying. My idle is about 1200rpm not sure of oil as it,s new to me. Seems to help if i pump cluthch a bit.
