If you want to go faster you need better technology.

Pretty much sums it up.

The ZZR1100 produces 14BHP more than a 1000F.
If you drop the rear sprocket to a 44 from 42 and drop the front from 17 to 16 tooth, you'll have all you need.
I've ridden the ZZR1200 and to be honest I didn't notice any huge difference in performance to my 90 model 1000F.
I have run 15/42 and could stay with most bikes up to around 200KPH - after that it really doesn't matter, does it ?
These bikes are supposed to be high speed TOURERS not crotch rockets - maybe you should consider something more along the lines of a 954....................?
You'd be better off improving the handling with shocks etc to make the best use of the power available ON THE ROAD. Having an engine with umptyzillion BHP is useless if the bike won't handle.
BTW I have a friend who runs a 1000F in a drag bike here in Durban, and it makes over 320BHP at the rear wheel, running methanol and a turbo, so anything is possible, it just depends on your budget and application.

I think 320HP would have me a bit nervous. I'm with you on the lowered gearing, will give her some more get up and go, but will throw the speedo reading out surely? Is there a way around that? Only solution I see is get an electronic speedo and drive module so it can be adjusted back to accurate. Not much one could do on a mechanical system.

Either mount a GPS or head down to the bicycle shop and pick up a speedo there. You can play with the settings until they match the GPS.

17/42 is stock, but there's really no way to get the clock more accurate that I know of. I'm +3 in the rear and I've noticed that mine is almost exactly 10mph high at 150mph. (gps shows 150, clock shows 160 and I'm maxed out)
When I'm cruising around town, I'm showing about 5mph high on the clock based on those speed sign things. (the ones that show your speed as you pass them) lol...

I don't worry much about it, tbh. I just ride about 10mph over the limit all the time. Sometimes slightly more if I'm not paying attention.

Speedo will be out quite a bit, reading high. Prob around 20% high.
I don't know of any way to change the drive, but you could fit a customised dial - which would show the correct speeds opposite the needle. Any decent graphic shop should be able to do it for a few $s.
