Out of curiosity -Tires-
My 93 came with a brand new BT 020 rear & a newer Pilot Road front.
Seems to handle okay even pushing it hard.
So ???'s
Any of you Guys & Girls running unmatched pairs on your Hurricanes ??
If so what ya think ? Good / Bad ??

I've run mismatched pairs a couple times. Bridgestone/goodyear and michelin/goodyear.
I don't think it's optimal, but.....
The thing is, it's not gonna handle the best when you have two different profiles or tread patterns and if they're vastly different, I can see it being an issue.

I personally have not run with mismatched tires. I agree with Trout
, I do not think it would be an issue just for cruising. It is when you are going to push the bike and the tires to the limits. Thats when I would be concerned. On a wet road or a twisty road is where I would draw the line. Just saying...
Yeah ......that figures alright , seems my front (older but not much) is not as "planted"
and gets that slight drift, methinks I'll grab a set of PR2's for the spring , wait until those
good December winter tire sales

I don't like the way two tires work together. They slip and roll differently. Tires are engineered as a set. When the front slips more than the rear I get twitchy and loose trust in it. The same goes when the front sticks better than the rear (better then a stickier rear IMO). When leaned way over, the bike feels like it is more upright towards the tire that is sticking better, as the looser ones is sliding out from under. I just don't like the feeling.
The real scary part for me is trusting a, lets say, better front rain/sandy condition tire and suddenly finding the rear sliding out. I like them to be doing the same thing at the same time.
I doubt that the manufactures can match compound and sidewall even if they get the tread close to others.
It's a motor-cycle. You can change the motor but you need to get the tires right. I always change mine as sets.

I've almost always got different tyres on and have never noticed a difference. At the moment I got a Continental Road Attack on the front and a BT021 on the rear of the 1000F. The Continental sticks like sh&t to a blanket and the BT021 just does its usual thing of being a very hard wearing and grippy tyre. I have a Metzeler on the front of the BB and a BT021 on the back of it as well and dont notice a difference there either. Thats just me though. Others will have different opinions. Cheers.
