For the teenagers out there- The white "smoke" you see on startup is water. A normal by product of combustion. When your exhaust system heats up the "smoke" goes away. If it doesn't go away check for a leaking head gasket. BLUE smoke is oil. Black smoke means you're fuel mixture is too rich.

I believe the last two must be interchanged, i.e., blue smoke means a rich mixture, while black smoke is oil burning. Right?

+1

Oil burns with blue smoke.

The black in the smoke in an over rich mixture is carbon from the incomplete combustion of the fuel.

oil burns blue, i have been using gallons of the stuff this year and it has all gone up as blue smoke, no oil leaks only out of the exhaust, maybe i shud run a hose from the end of my exhaust pipe to the chain for auto lube like a chainsaw!

And white smoke when your sitting at 5000rpm and going nowhere is usually the back tyre - haha

well Ive done 250 ks since that oil change to 20/50 the engine is still very quite and no smoke at all. The whitish smoke might have only been temporary while the engine was freshly started after being emptied and filled a fresh.

had to cross a flooded bridge yesterday, there was a cop on the side of the road, i indicated to him as if - ok to cross? and he simply shrugged his shoulders, like try your luck buddy...so i waited and timed it perfectly while a big vehicle parted the waters and then I quickly road straight into the line where the waters where parted and with my legs up in the air..that was one of my first adventures on the bike apart from getting totally drenched last saturday night...rain realy hurts when your doing 110ks..lol
