As mentioned, heavier oil will dampen the noise. It is important to use motorcycle oil or equivalent or the tranny will crush it and thin it out.
Thin oil will weep out of the CCT and cause some rattle at lower RPM. If the oil level is low, the chain may not pick up enough to fling on the CCT.

Oil level and quality makes a big difference.
It also isn't recommended to start the bike on the sidestand and let it idle - I find the oil doesn't fill the tensioner properly..................so more noise.
It is important to use motorcycle oil or equivalent or the tranny will crush it and thin it out.
That's why diesel oil is much better than car oil when used in a bike.....
