Default Oil in airbox

Today I took my air cleaner out to clean and found to my disgust it was full of crap so started to wipe out the air box and found some oil in there not much not even the size of a 5 cent piece and it was old oil as the colour was blackish now as I change mine every 3,000 odd ks I knew this wasnt recent. I found this in the lower section of the air box has anyone else found this ????

My air cleaner was a bit of a mess and there was oil residue in the airbox but I figured it was ok and didn't think any more of it after the new air cleaner went in.

it might be coming from the pcv hose, if it is from there its not a big deal as long as there is only a little.. as compression gets by the rings it has to go somewhere.

Another option to consider would be the type of air filter you are running. If you run the K&N filter, they are cleanable (bad word usage) and require that they be recharged or oiled. I have seen some who don't let it tack up enough and put it back in and the recharger oil will drip a little down into the airbox.

Did it go away when you changed it, or haven't you checked it since swapping it out? And are you running a stock or OEM filter or a K&N. Even on the stock or paper filters, and old school trick that many riders older than I say to spray a little foam filter oil on it. Very little though, barely enough to dust the filter.
