Not Fun!
Hi guys.
Sun shining etc etc so thought i'd take the bike to work today (1997 Hurricane) after it's been standing for a few weeks. Tyre pressure checked = fine. Fuel = 3/4 tank. Lets go.....
First slight bend I hit and the bike didn't want to play nice! Had to really drag it over and was fighting a "weaving" sensation and every time i hit any road markings (even completely upright) the bike seemed to "skip"....needless to say the trip was scary and took the fun out of it a bit!
Any ideas? Callipers may require an overhaul i guess but pretty sure its more than that.
Cheers, safe riding.

Bad wheel bearings, maybe. Try getting the wheels off of the ground, spinning them and listen for ticking noises. Also grab they wheels and see if there is any kind of side to side movement. Replacing the bearings is usually not too difficult or expensive.
Has the bike been on the side stand for any length of time ?
My bike was left on the side stand for a few weeks and felt very strange round left hand corners for quite a while when back on the road.
I think that the weight of the bike deforms the tyres over time on the side stand and its only when you get some heat back in to the tyes by riding that they return to a normal shape.

I've just had my bike off the road for 8 months. Took it for it's first ride a couple of days ago. I had to wonder if I had thrown a balance weight off the front wheel as it was almost bouncing. When I watched the wheel turning it was visibly out of shape. By the time I got home it was a little better. I have never had the problem before so I'm wondering if is a particular tyre. I am running Bridgestone Batlax. How about you?
Mine was on the side stand but no motor in it. Took it to work yesterday about 20 minutes each way @ 60 kms & it's settling down nicely. Obviously just a flat spot that should sort itself out. Hopefully Adz99's will also settle.
Hi ad,
What sort of tyres are you running? Was out myself yesterday and the some of the other riders were having similar problems. When we parked up, the temp in my tyres was hotter than there's, which shows that tyre choice for these bikes is important. Around the world, tyre choices differ, dependant on temp and road surface.
As for the white lining, it does'nt matter how hot you tyres get,you will still get some scary moments as the paint is hard and shiney. But you should have been ok on the tarmac.
The tyres that I'm currently using are meztslers, but thats just down to personel choice, and everyone has there own preferences and those that don't, learn over time.

Thanks for all your pointers guys - i'm almost to embarased to own up to this, but for the hope it may benefit someone i'll tell ya!.....
I checked the tyres, well, i pressed in the side walls and all seemed ok.....closer inspection on the rear tyre after a 25 mile trip from HELL!, and my thumbs dissapeared into the rear tyre - total flat!
Most probably buggered the tyre completely now so I'll be sorting out a new one....
Lesson learned and I guess I was very lucky.
DOH!
Thanks again.
