RE: New CBR owner
I'm honestly not going for longest thread ever, promise!
I appreciate the welcomes from everyone, I spend more time on here than anywhere else on the web anymore.
Does anyone have a how to for changing fork oil? I'm also looking for a master cylinder for the lever/front brake, I think it's bad. Coming up to slow stops it will bind, so I apply a little more pressure then it moves and brakes HARD, uneven movement through the whole travel of the lever. All the mechanical linkage outside of the cylinder is just fine. It's killing me, like I'm riding for the first time, every time. I dunno if someone put kool-aid in the brake lines or what, but I've bled them and am still having trouble.

Hey, Welcome. Another great looking '94. First, round up the service manual for that bike. It may be on here somewhere for free, or check Ebay. I see them on a regular basis for $20. There is a special bleed procedure for the linked system. The forks do not have an air precharge on the '94 model.

Had it up to 145 mph two weeks ago which was all she had, but then again that was at 9,000 ft (I'm in Colorado). It's my understanding these maxed at 155 mph off the assembly line, but I'm not going to get too bent out of shape over 10 mph loss over 13 years. I'd say that's acceptable!

Hey RRaleigh01, welcome to the forum. I too have been spending alot of time here. Most of the users here are quite helpful. As for the sticky front break, I've used to have the same problem. I did a complete rebuild of the front callipers and front master cylinder. My front brake lever would stick if squeezed gently, then suddenly grab hard. It's a little un-nerving having it do that. Mostly I think that changing the brake fluid made the biggest difference even though I did replace the seals in each of the components. A sure clue to old brake fluid is that it's a brown color in appearance. When fresh it will be quite clear.
Have fun and be safe.
