Talking New bike cleaner

I got myself some bike cleaner the other day and finally got round to trying it out. Its called "S Doc 100" and its bloody marvelous!!
It is a gel that comes in a 1 litre squirty dispenser.
My cane has got white wheels and they are a nightmare to clean (as some of you know) but a squirt of this stuff and a 5 minute tea break has sorted them right out. It says to use a sponge (supplied) to sort out any really stuborn marks but I found a 25mm paintbrush better for getting in and around the discs and then just rince it of with a powerful water jet from a hose.
Apparently you can use it on all of your bike and it doesn't harm rubber or paintwork, its a bit expensive at £12 for a litre so I just use it on the wheels and swing arm to get the brake dust and chain lube off.
Out of 10 points I would give it a 8.5, it could do with being a bit thicker and a bit cheaper

Sound good Sawnee .

Being a cheap git I use asda smart price washing-up liquid on the wheels about 39p a bottle used with touch of water and plenty of elbow grease!!

Maybe I'll get some of the good stuff when I get my wheels powder coated

White wheels - my pet hate !
I use paraffin and a paintbrush
Good quality polish on the rest of the bike,
and Autosol on the metal bits.

That stuff sounds good Sawnee, but it's pricey hey ! ( and postage would be a killer)

? Paraffin ... like wax? I don't get it ... do you brush hot wax on your rims and clean it off or something?

Someone on here suggested Dubbin to bring some gleam back to faded controls which I've done with pleasing results ...

Wikipedia comes through to the rescue ...

"Paraffin, or paraffin hydrocarbon, is also the technical name for an alkane in general, but in most cases it refers specifically to a linear, or normal alkane — whereas branched, or isoalkanes are also called isoparaffins. It is distinct from the fuel known in Ireland, Britain and South Africa as paraffin oil or just paraffin, which is called kerosene in most of the U.S., Australia and New Zealand."

So I'm assuming you clean with what I would refer to as kerosene ... which I do use to clean my chains with.

I always forget how International this board is.

Neat.

Yep - you'd probably call it kerosene
We call it "power parafin" here, or lamp oil.
Good for chains too !
