What a pain. There are some excellent epoxy resins on the market, but you cant beat an unbroken one. Good luck.

Quick update, the guy selling the water union elbow contacted me after cancelling the purchase and told me that the part was water damaged!!!!!! Haha, it carries water from point A to point B!!!!

Anyway I got one from Lings Honda in the UK for £32 inc delivery for a genuine new old stock Honda part.

What came off after being cleaned up

The flat seal fitted to the original part was all swollen and too big to go back in so I had a large o'ring in a kit at home and seated it in some RTV and this is the item fitted.

Some of the alloys were a little suspect. Years ago, my Dad did a test on aluminium castings in clean Colmans mustard jars. There was a casting , only small in each jar. One jar had tap water, one with normal blue anti freeze, another with "Forelife" which was a premixed solution from Toyota. 25 years later, and still on his shelf, the Forelife proved fantastic. The tap water jar corroded the casting as one would expect, the blue glycol antifreeze mixed at the correct rate also corroded the metal but not as bad as the tap water.
I always use the Toyota stuff, not Forelife any more, but still the same. Red or pink, different spec but excellent product.

Thats interesting. I know you cannot mix the red and blue either or it turns to sludge.

All being well the bike will be gone tomorrow. Gotta drop it off in the morning. Time to find the next project, I have a 2003 SV650N lined up for a little TLC.
I'm going to miss it though it rides lovely.

Such a short lived love affair, now you have been bitten by the Hurricane, you will always look back fondly at her and like many others you will probably end up with another one down the track.

Still a hooligan at heart mate but when I find the need for a touring bike with sporting pretensions then it will be right up there in my next search. For me it really was right place right time when I found it as these had never been on my radar in the past but they certainly are now.
I'll still be about on here anyway to get my fix. I also want to thank you all for any advice and push I may have needed whilst restoring the old girl.
Cheers
Lyn

Really enjoyed reading this thread. Sad to see you letting her go but, the experience of the rebuild is at least 60% of the thrill for me. Hopefully, she has gone to a good home.
