Were the grips a simple install, direct to the battery or thru ignition?

Yeah straight forward, the only downside was the length of cables coming from the controller meant that on full LH lock the connection plugs ideally want to pass over the top of the frame under the edge of the tank. If they were 30mm longer at the connections then it would be better.

I used superglue to stick the grips on and managed to drop some on to the fairing!!!!!! My own fault. I removed the cloth too soon and it ran down the cable before it dropped.

Straight from the battery and they don't wanna run unless the bike is running although when you shut the bike down they will stay on until the battery gets to a set voltage then switch off.

Superglue, yikes! I find that if you clean up the bars properly (wet and dry sand paper is your best friend if the PO used glue) you can slip on the new ones with a little soapy water for lube and once dry will never move unless you want them to.

Ah, well, they aren't coming off anyway so it's fine. I managed to remove the superglue all bar a little mark by slicing it off with a stanley blade.

Thank you Sprock. Nice to get a little praise from a CBR old hand.

Thanks. That's great. Plenty of info on here and lots of knowledgable peeps if you get stuck.

Good luck with it.

My bike has been on eBay for the last 28 days and I've had 2 x interested parties. One of which called in the p!ssing rain an asked could he take the bike out for a try (in the rain with no cash and no assurance of insurance cover) so I politely refused but offered to take him pillion. That had the desired effect of making him part with a deposit. So all being well it'll be gone in the next couple of weeks on the proviso that I remove the water pump and refit a new seal to stop the minor oil loss from under the pump as he spotted the rainbow on the pavement.

So today I did just that and when the LH fairing came off I noticed plenty of rusty coloured water down the side of the engine block and a slight weep noticed at the base of the coolant elbow once up to temperature. Turns out some ham fisted buffoon has cracked the coolant elbow by over tightening!!! One used part on order from eBay to hopefully be fitted next week before collection.

Stripped,
