Default Needles off from meters

Is it possible to get needles off from all meters (speedo, rpm...) without damaging them and maintaining the chance to put them back? I tried to pull them off with my fingers but either I'm too weak or that japanese guy who built my bike used some really nasty superglue. I'm doing this not just for sheer excitement, but also because I'm thinking to replace that original black background into something more cooler. My bike is CBR 1000F '94. Thanks in advance.

My experience with replacing dial facings is, that once you pull that needle the calibration is ****ED.[:@]
No one told me this when I did my Mazda RX7 dials and I think it goes for every gauge with a needle out there.
So if you don't care about a needle jumping up and down/not working at all, but looking good in the process then go for it.

I tried to do the same thing. I also was told its not a good idea. I did replace (actually cover) the faces, though. www.streetracerparts.com (Shawn) I had them custom made. The faces are EL and are designed to fit under the needles. I got them on pretty easy. They are white during the day and glow blue at night. It also has a color change to green if you like, and you can adjust the brightness. As soon as I get off my lazy butt, I'll post some photos. IMHO They are a HUGE improvement. On the speedo, you have to remember to leave the background lights in, or else you cannot read the trip meter or mileage. It was a little bit of fun to do this, but wow what a difference. Just my 2 pennys.

Ok. Here's some photos. My camera just doesn't do it right, though. If anybody wants the bigger pics, let me know.

Thanks. Its a combo gage: time/trip/lap/ voltmeter/ temp gauge. I bought it at http://www.casporttouring.com. Lots of neat things there. Since I gave www.Streetracerparts.com all the gauges, they should have a template and gauges made up(?). Contact them. They were fantastic with me. I Highly Highly recommend them.
