Question

Also trying to find hard luggage and a rack is no small feat.. Givi, Krauser just take some mods of another kit to work.
The Givi fit my '87 except that I had to drill a hole at the can mount. That was it.

Well guys

i have made my decision, I went and to see and have a ride on cbr1100xx, the bike was absolutely mint, it was a 2002, not a scratch, with kappa hard luggage and all, ran like a dream but for some reason I did not connect with it did not bring a smile to my face, she did not talk to me... on my way back on my old girl I had a smile on my face, weird maybe some of you's can relate.

So I will keep her for a long time and improve on small things, most of all the lighting at night,I will drop to a 170 tire as Avons have a different shape to get her steering quicker, the brakes are fine by me, so you guys are stuck with me.

For some reason I feel that the 1000f has more soul! As W Shatner would say: weird or what?

So you guys are stuck with me for quite a litlle while still.....

Thanks for all the imput!

Could be some truth there.

Hey:

Glad to hear it, there was a reason the Hurricane was the Motorcycle of the year 5 times between 1987-1997 losing to its little brothers the 600/900, 4 of the losing times.
Now it is time to spend some of the money you saved on your cane to get her exactly where you want her if shes not there already. They are very, very, good bikes overall and even the mighty fast CBRXX is not really much of a improvement or match for the Hurricane in any other category except smoothness. I think you have found out why as they seem to have a very deep soul. Good Luck in the future on your Hurricane.

It sucks you didn't really connect with the 'Bird, but the 1000F is a great bike. Comfortable, quick, reliable, etc. I enjoyed another 300miles on her today.

And I can think of many worse things than being stuck with you, Carl.

Being lucky enough to own both bikes I find it hard to believe the XX didnt bring a smile to your face....but hey everyone is different. Both bring a smile to my face for diff reasons. I love the comfort of the 1000F and while the XX is comfortable I find its raw power delivery nothing short of f*cking awesome. Yet pulling up somewhere on the 1000F and have someone who knows nothing about bikes say " Nice bike mate. new is it ?" makes my day as well.....

I agree with Bordo on this. I also have both (a 96 CBR1000F and a 99 CBR1100XX) and previously owned an 88 CBR1000F. The 99XX is my bike of choice. The 96F is more upright. Has a touch more leg room. Is more comfy. My wife like the 96F better.
The 99XX is faster and smoother. I like them both. When two up I prefer the 96F. Solo I like the 99XX. You can easily mod the 99XX with peg lowering kit and bar risers and the position is very similar.
