Need some spares
#12
Thanks boys - sorry, went to bed a bit early.
Was hit from behind - see the smudge on his number plate from my back tyre.
The big black thing is my back luggage box - helped to save me from landing on his bonnet/hood.
That's my oil on the road.
List of spares:
Round crankshaft cover left side
Right mirror (think I kicked it off somehow)
Left hand "crashbar cover"
May have to replace my screen - not sure if bolt holes are broken.
Bike starts and runs.
I'll know if anything's twisted later when I test the old girl.
Thanks again for the good wishes.

Thanks Mark I may take you up on one.
The little crashbar saved my fairings - that's a great bit of Honda engineering !
A bit of scuffing in the upper fairing but fixable with some paint. Now I'll have to get that paint formulation mixed .
It may be time to go for a longer pair of mirrors - which ones did you fit, and what needs modifying on the bolt holes etc ?
As of this morning my body feels like it needs some spares too hehe. Aches and pains all over. Lucky though.

Yeah I opted for the Slik Designs ones ........ like 'em a lot
very little modding to widen the mount bracket to get the two stock bolts to fit
Just a dremel with a chainsaw sharpening bit to widen 'em out a few mill's each
side - they look pretty good too ..... let me know I'll get ya hooked up with Jon

Pete. Sorry, I can't help with spares, only moral support!
What's the go legally over there? Here, if you run up the back of somebody it's your fault almost every time because you were too close for the speed and conditions. Is the person insured and will they be footing the bill?
As for going to bed early...sook!

The law here's the same, Dave, except that my insurance company will fix my bike and then try to get my excess back from the other guy. With my excess at R5000 (about $600Au) it's not really worth claiming unless you have major damage.
Hope to be able to fix it pretty cheaply. Also if I claim, I lose any no-claim bonuses and my premiums go way up. I was also partly to blame, turning where I shouldn't have, although it doesn't excuse his hitting me at all, really. Live and learn, I guess.
Won't be the first time I've been called a sook, or the last.
You're a bloody HOON - taking advantage of a man when he's down
Thanks for caring.

Yeah, the excess is the thing here too although mine's nowhere near that much. If it turns into a sh1tfigh,t as far as who's responsible goes, that side of things could cost more than the repairs anyway.
Bloody lucky you're not badly hurt! The whole living and learning thing is quite overrated imo... especially if it hurts and costs you $$!
