RE: need lower triple tree for 88 cbr1000f
ok,here is the deal.....i am frankenstiening my 88 cane.....it was given to me....i did some service work on customers' 93 vfr 700 or 750?? and straightened out what some "hack mechanic" attempted to repair....after paying for the job he(Victor) asked if i wanted an 88 1000f.. Vic told me,during the time he was getting chemotherapy , his lil brother joy rode it , dumped it, etc...vic was going to fix it but he felt like "the bitch got raped and would nt be the same" so it sat for 4 years..90% complete ..after i rebuilt all of the hydraulics brake and clutch, adj valves, carb clean, new fork oil, regulator, and a battery, i rode it. i.never had a honda before....stock size battle axe tires were on the thing and i HATED the way it handled...i read every thread in the cbr1000f forum..and came across the wider rear wheel thread and how easy it would be...well i have a 93 kawasaki zx6e rolling chassis ..the rear wheel.,brakes, fit right up in the Cane' just nice and boy did she ride good..it was night and day...i dont care for Canes' brakes that much, as i was used to the 6 piston caliper ,USD fork set up i put on 89' FZR 1k....sooo i found the ninja fork tubes fit inside Canes' tripple clamps...one problem ...not wide enough to accept ninjas wider wheel.....i was able to line 1 disc brake and caliper, and speedo cable . and rode i it.....i think wider is better SO , to make it work right, i need to put a Canes stem in Ninjas tripple clamps.....Cane has a welded stem Ninja has press fit... even better if 90 Cane has the same width as ninja...So i do not want to pay a lot for a part that is for R&D......know what i mean??
