Where the tank is located above the carbs - the fundamental principles of gravity will
apply, trust me on this concept So your connect your line from the carbs to the fuel tank petcock

Tis purely a question of gravity.
As Sprock says the tank and therefore the fuel is above the carb float bowls therefore even if the hoses actually go below the carbs fuel will still flow to the carbs at a faster rate than you can use it.
You may choose to install a filter in line as is required for the pump but this is not necessarily required for gravity feed it is there to keep the fuel pump valves clear, there is a strainer in the tank on the petcock and this is usually sufficient for all the gravity fed systems that I have encountered.
Judicious jiggling of the fuel lines on initial installation toalleviate as many air bubbles and pockets as possible will probably give the best results.
Good luck
JK
