Default My 180 swap on the '89 'cane is done!!!!

After the long wait I finally have it done! The swap was well worth the effort! Thanks to hurricane1000! If anyone is interested in doing this swap. Definetly look at his pics of his bike. It gives alot of guidance on how to go about the swap. With the extra time I have left until riding season. I might try to polish the swingarm and sprocket too. Let me know what you guys think! Not only thanks to hurricane1000... Thank you everyone. For anyone who's new to the site... this site is ultimately the best site for cbr1000f's1. Now for the pics....

It was easy. Yeah I used two large washers in between the rim spacer, and the brake caliper braket. That lined up everything on the axle. Then I had to get a longer bolt for the front of the brake stabilizer bar. Because it gets flipped to one side of the mount on the swingarm. Of couse to make it solid. I filled the space where the mount went with washers so that when I tightened the bolt down it wouldn't crush the mount on the bar. All in all the whole swap was really easy. It sounds complicated at first. But when you get into doing the swap it all fits into place easily. Polishing the rim was easy too! I took some aircraft paint remover and removed all the black paint off the rim. Then I buffed the center (rough cast) with a coarse wire bit w/air tools, and followed through with the medium. It's not as polished as the lips but it's shiny enough. I'm thinking about re-doing my custom devilbikes exhaust. I don't really want to cut the can down. But I'd like to find a way to make it a high-mount system. Idea's are still brewing on this one. We'll see what happens!

chuck,
im glad everything went well for you... i know it all sounds complicated, but once you get started it all kinda falls into place pretty easily... congrats on the install... now we need to move to the front. i think we can work something out...[sm=ts.gif]

1000f,
look at my gallery, and read some of my old posts, i have given some pretty good instructions on how to do this swap, and at least 3 people have gone by my directions pretty successfully... the post that starts "this is where i..." has a link to a site i put up detailing my mods, but dont hesitate to ask any questions if you have any....

Yeah my '88 is the same as the '87. I guess it's not really a true '89... one tag says '87, another says late '88. My bad[:'(]. But yeah I used my stock swingarm and just moved thecaliper mount armover. On my second post. I have a picture of how I did it.
hurricane1000,
Yeah I'm trying to work on that front too. Before riding season. But my budget is tight right now. So I got to do the things I can without spending too much. My wife says[:@].
