Mirrors for a 1996 CBR 1000F
Well gang, after a complete fairings off detailing on Saturday and oil filter/oil change to Royal Purple, we took the CBR out for a easy run of 133 miles this morning. All I can say is, 'man what a sweet bike!' I stopped to fill her up and 2.8 gallons later, I calculated the mpg to be 47.5.
Honda needs to pull their heads out of their ***** and update this package with hard saddle bags as an option to keep cost down. I mean Yamaha has the FJR and Kawasaki has the Connie 14 and Honda has the ...VFR...come on! I love my VFR but my biggest complaint is the lack of motor. Say that on some sites and you get blasted.
So Hurricanes, a few questions for you. The bike is clean, has low miles and I have done a few things to dress her up but now I'm looking a new mirrors. I have found new ones for $30.00 but I wonder if the rubber boots will stay seated. The stock units will not stay seated over the base ring. Any recommendations would be great. Secondly, what luggage fits and where can you buy it. Thanks for the welcomes btw, JD

Welcome again, bud!
I know what you mean about the mirror boots. Mine does the same thing.
I had a little luck wetting them down with an armor-all type stuff. Then I pushed the mirror forward for some slack, slipped the boots on, then pushed the mirror back...slightly stretching the boots. It may work, just make sure you don't split them or anything (but I don't think you will).
Other than that, I'm not really sure what else to recommend if you're looking for aftermarket mirrors or something...
Also, I don't have bags. Shadow has some slick ones, though....look very nice. I'm sure he can recommend something...

I can seat the boots with no problem but 30-50 mph, they pop right off.

As for the mirrors - I've never had a problem with the boots - maybe because it's not so cold here......

I want to keep her as stock as possible and I found replacement mirrors at D2Moto.com for under $30 but if the boots won't stay on them, I may go with black Pig Spotters. BTW, I hate that name. I feel like some 13 year skateboarder when I say that. I wonder if those work or they just for show?

I purchased a set of mirrors made by emgo and the rubber boots do not come close to staying on the bracket. I tried to e-mail emgo to find out if a heat gun would shrink the rubber around the bracket or if there was some way to keep it there, but I never recieved a response.
I thought I would update the new mirrors I purchased from D2Moto. Left side fit great, right side saw the boot being 1-2" too short. I have repackaged them and sent an e-mail with pictures. Ride safe, JD
