I have one of the convex ones on my left mirror and it does help but doesn't solve the problem for me.

These are for CBRs from 93 onwards which has been the problem from the start, no-one knows if these will fit our earlier bikes, it would be nice to compare an earlier mirrors mounts with the later ones.

If anyone has both?

Cheers

I'm pretty sure that the 87-88 are a different length base - the mounting points are further apart. I haven't done a direct comparison, however.

I did email Motohaus the site selling the spacers and asked if there was any available for an 88 mobel, they checked with the manufacturer and they said no, and if they are showing the correct spacer on their website it is definately different, as Griffin said in his last post F-J mounts are longer.

So new plan, I took one of the mirrors off and went to see a local engineering company that specialises in making prototype parts, he is going to let me know what it will cost to make some spacers for the mirrors, in the meantime I am going to get some longer bolts and some washers and experiment to see how big the spacer needs to be.

It might be cheaper to make a few, so if anyone is interested with an F-J let me know, I will also draw the shape of the mount, scan it and post it up with some diamentions to see if any other models could share the same spacer.

Sound like a plan

It might be worth mocking something up from a block of wood just to gage how much length you will need for the extensions and to see how they will work/look on the bike?

I'd be VERY interested in the pics and dimensions. I have a friend of a friend that is a machinist with all the crazy lazer tool crap and I can get him to make them for me. I'd think something from 1"-2"?

2 inch would probably be about right but might look odd and might vibrate too much.

I bought some washers and longer bolts today, I will have a play around tomorrow with these, see how much spacing they need then make a wooden prototype.

I'll then take her for a spin to see how they behave on the road, just wish the weather would sort itself out, the roads here in the UK are covered with salt so it'll have to be a quick one

On the (UK) VFR forum there's a chap who makes mirror extenders. Had them on my VFR800, they were great. I now have a CBR1000F-L, don't use them but I think the mounts are the same so they'd probably work. Not sure if the F-J is the same though.

Thanks for that mate, I have posted on the VFR forum, see what he comes up with.
