I suppose that's possible. THe same shop that replaced the battery screwed up the fork seals by banging them into place with a centre punch.

Centre punch?!?!?! WTF, and they guys are mechanics? Almost anything else, but a centre punch,would have been a better choice. WOW

Kep an eye on the battery water Griffin - it's one of the first signs that your reg/rec could be failing. Too much current into the battery boils the water way fast.
I'd change my mechanics if I were you - geez, havent they heard of HDPE piping ?

I will watch the water level, Shadow. And I have changed mechanics.

I can empathise with you there Griffin, I also had starting problems with my first CBR. Burnt out a starter soleniod due to it. Turned out to be the battery. Strong enough to wind over at a reasonable speed , but not enough grunt left to supply the requirements of the ignition system.
Live & learn.
A centre punch......, what the hell were they thinking[sm=headbang.gif].
Been burn't tooo, tooooooo, many times, I do ALL my own work now. Could not possibly trust another bike shop & I have worked in them.
Thats another story.
