Default looking for a '90/'91cbr-1000f

Very clean to immaculate. The closer to stock the better, especially exhaust. Ideal would be '90 silver/gray combination.

Willing to travel for the right bike.

ORIGINAL: jetson1000f

Did something happen to your old bike?

Yes. I crunched it pretty good. 80 to 100MPH range, stabbed the front, locking and tucking it, approaching a bend. Good long slide terminating under a guardrail. Probably repairable but questionably worth it as it is at 122,000 miles and has a fair amount of cosmetic damage as well as rear swing arm, brake, axle, and wheel assembly. I've been riding 36 years and that was the first get-off of my doing in 31 of those years. And that's at an average of 20,000+ miles per year.

BTW, that was all original except for a few maintenance items like fork seals, neck bearings, and the 43,000 mile cam chain tensioners. It was a bike I found about five years ago with only 950 miles. It was ridden hard but maintained well. Guess I got my use out of it plus, it's still got a fair amount of good parts left on it.

I wonder why he wants another one?

I don't know if it's still available but a guy in Cincinnati had a silver '90 with only 7500 on the clock. I looked it over back in October. It was all stock + a Corbin seat. It pretty much was sitting in storage for alot of years but the owner put a new battery in it and it seemed to run well. I did not ride it. The bike was all there but the factory paint job was ruined from abuse and neglect. No dents in tank and I think I only found one 1/2" crack in all the plastic. It would need a complete service and paint, windscreen, rubber mirror boots? I passed on it as he was firm on $3000 at the time. I lusted after these silver ones for alot of years and if it had still been pretty I might have gone for it. I still have the guys number. Let me know. Good luck.

Sure. I'd appreciate the number and actually, wouldn't mind talking to you as well having already seen it and being an independent party. I have the typical free long distance on my cell after 7:00 EST and all week-ends. I'd be happy to call you if you're comfortable with that, or give you my number. Thanks much for taking the time to respond.

Good luck in your search. I can understand why you are looking for the specific year/color scheme that you mentioned. I also have a '90 that is silver/grey and think it is the best looking CBR1000F out there.

You guys might get a kick out of this. I posted a couple in another thread so they may be repeats, but....

It's a few pics of mine on the track with 90,000 miles on it, all original, even the fork seals. It was a good bike. When I crashed it, on the street, it had 122,000. By then it had new fork seals but was still on the original rear shock. That was in the fastest group and not running in the back of that. Not bad for a 15 year old stock, heavy, bike. They REALLY are a nice all arounder. The pipe covers and centerstand are removed only for the track, for corner clearance.

Still looking. I've got a couple of prospects and one scammer. Those guys are pathetic. He joined the board, one post and it was an E-mail to me.

I missed a good one in Forida by dorking around.
