Katana's aka gsxf bikes are or where air cooled until they discontinued them in 2006. Not sure about any others. I have a feeling this is more of a euro question as I've always known them as super sports here in the states. That or rice rockets lol. I haven't heard that one in a while though.

The first Honda Super Sport models date back to circa 1975 with the introduction of the CB400F, CB550F, and CB750F Super Sports (in the US, at least). The major difference between these models and the K models (at least for the 550K and 750K- I don't think they sold a 400K here), other than cosmetic, was that the F models had 4 into 1 exhausts, while the K models had 4 into 4 exhausts. All of these bikes were air cooled with a single overhead cam. The "Super Sport" that the Wikipedia article refers to is the the CBR900RR, which was actually (I believe) released in 1993, not 94. If the OP is calling the RR models supersports, they are all (in US at least) inline water cooled fours.

decals SS vs LCIF
Hey:
+4 with Sprock, Damo77, Bordo, and kiwi TK it is about marketing and markets.
Just like a few markets had the bike listed as Hurricanes, not all did and were either Super Sports, Liquid Cooled Inline 4, or Hurricanes til 92, or in some makets all of the above were touted. The decals reflect whatever will best sell in the market they are targeted, some only one, others some, or all. As stated earlier the bike is a CBR1000Fs no matter the decals are all the same pretty much, with 2 exceptions the year models MK1 87-89, MK2 89-92, MK3 92-00, and HP restricted bikes or all others. Thats really the only 2 things to be concerned about, everything else is just a localized graphics package.
