RE: i wanna wheelie
If you want to use your bike as a toy for wheelies and stuff you should change the gearing. A compromise gearing for all use (speed, street, touring) is 17/45. If you complement that with a 4-2-1 or slipon exhaust the wheelies will come easy.
I have done that mods and I just have to crank the throttle open and the front comes up into the air by itself. No clutch or jerking the throttle.

Use the clutch to bring it up in second gear. It takes a bit of commitment, you can't just sort of fan it and hope it wheelies for you. You have to WANT it to. You can bring it up in first without the clutch but I always found shifting to second to be tough, at least on my high mileage '88(always falls out). Bringing it up in second with the clutch gets the wheel to the balance point quickly so you still have lots of revs left to play with. Once you get comfortable with that then you can work on shifting to third, standing up, etc. I like to shift to third sitting down, then just as I shift I give it a tug and pull myself into the standing position as it comes back to the balance point. Once in third and standing you can go as long as you have road in front of you.

RE: i wanna wheelie
i had a 1000 for a long time and it will lift the frt end but with alot of effort and practice
now i have a cbr900rr that will smack your chin with the tank
regear alot and pipe and jet kit or trade up is a better bet the 1000 is a long heavy machine
thats alot of bike to wheelie but if you do alot of touring you have a great machine
its a trade off ya know
