I need some help from the pros!!!!
i bought a 1988 honda cbr 1000f hurricane but i have been having issues? its really hard to start it turns over and over and finally fires but sputters like its flooded? it has a non stock universal fuel pump? my dad and i rebuilt the carb and it helped but not all the way it idles hot but not cold. so i replaced the spark plugs but while doing so i noticed that plugs on cylinders 2 and 4 were soaked but 1 and 3 were not dry but u can tell they were firing. could it be a bad ignition coil not firing 2 and 4. i have also noticed that it sounds way differant than most of the other hurricanes.

Firstly welcome to the CBR Forum Chaser,
Now to your problem, CBR1000Fs love a really full battery, so is it charged fully? You don't actually need the fuel pump, the Mark 1s ('87/'88) can be plumbed in with the fuel line going directly to the carbs from the tank - gravity fed. And after fettling the carbs did you balance them?
That's where I'd start, then look at the coils. Make sure all the connections are good and the resistance is correct for each coil.
Let us know how you go.
Cheers, SB

If the problem really is ignition related, then there has to be a problem with wires 2 and 4. The first thing I would check is to see if those two wires are going to the wrong cylinders. If they are correct, I would check the resistance of the two wires. There are little resistors in the sparkplug end of the wires that can go bad and the wire won't work at all.
Assuming the piston and valves are sealing, the problem then has to be with carburetors 2 and 4. If the spark plugs are wet, the piston/needles in those two carbs could be stuck in the up position, flooding those two cylinders.
