yes im now sure its the head gasket so looks like im in for the long task of stripping engine down to replace it , though on the brightside I can take my time as due to the fact its summer and hopefully the weather will turn nice soon I went out at the weekend and brought myself a blackbird as a spare bike

So long as the head isn't warped, replacing the head gasket won't take too long, can be done with the engine still in the bike. Just be careful when removing the down pipes, snapped studs have a way of spoiling your day!
