I’ve got a flat spot under 3k, when I got the cabbies cleaned, it was better but still there.
If I plan to accelerate, I make sure that I am over 3k
( 94' with non stock exhaust)

You think different pilot jets would help?

No. Pilot jets ONLY affect idle speed, nothing else.

I just had my carbs apart a couple of nights ago. Mine is a 94, non US model. There is no way to adjust the float level. The float is all plastic. No metal tang.

^^^^
WHS There is no way to adjust it. The entire float assembly is plastic. Not metel whatsoever to bend. Trying to bend plastic will cause all sorts of dramas.

I've got a bunch of parts on order. I expect it to take 2 - 3 week to have in my hands (dealing with customs in central america sucks). When I take the carbs apart again, I'll take pictures so you guys can see them.

The reason it wouldn't start is that the fuel shut-off valve is vacuum operated. You have to crank the engine to get some vacuum, then wait while the float bowls fill. The vacuum at crank speed will also tend to be more of an intermittent pulse than a sufficiently continuous amount to just hold the valve open. It can take a while to fill the bowls that way.

If you do this again, pull the vacuum hose from the carb to the valve off, make sure the valve is in the ON position, and suck on the hose for a minute or so before to actually try starting. It doesn't take more than you can readily make with your mouth to open that valve. If you own a Mity-vac brake bleeder you could use that pump, or.... start with the jokes.
