Yep, could well be the original chain it left the factory with ... I dunno . The bike has only had a couple of previous owners and it was laid up for a long time prior to me buying it @ roughly 21,000 miles. It's a long story, but it could well be the original chain. Seemed fine for the last few months, then suddenly went downhill fast...
New chain & sprockets currently being fitted, so it's all good

Happy days .... got a call from my mechanic today, to tell me the bike is now ready .... New DID gold x link chain & sprockets fitted and impending water issue is now sorted ....

Apparently, the water problem was pipe #4 in this diagram had all but rotted through... ( I never spotted it myself, that's why I stick to fixing IT problems and let those who know better than me sort my ride out )

CYLINDER Honda CBR1000F 1987 OEM Parts - Cheap Cycle Parts

Ah well ... headstock bearings are next on the agenda ... apparently they're stuffed and in need of replacement asap .... a job for next month, I think...

New brake and suspension upgrades will follow soon...

Happy riding all

It's a done deal SB .... Next day off is our forthcoming Bank Holiday on Monday .... I'm off with a few mates to take on the infamous 5 Passes in the Lake District.

Have a look on Youtube for:

Kirkstone Pass
Hardknott Pass ( 1 in 3 twistly climb on a goat track - steepest road in England)
Whinlatter Pass
Wrynose Pass
&
Honister Pass.....

Gotta be some of the best biking roads in the uk

Just hope the weather holds! lol

Edit: Just found a clip for you ... Hardknott Pass .... Can't wait!!!
