JEEZ !!!
I've heard these bikes called many things but never a combine harvester !!!
I'd be concerned that the chain pitch and the sprocket pitch match, or you'll end up ruining all of it (if it doesn't kill you)
I wouldn't have that thing anywhere near my bike, and I concur with Mark,
the mechanic is a total arsewhole
I'd take the thing back and insist on a 530 chain at the correct pitch, or you'll sue him.
WHAT A MUPPET !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And people wonder why we like to work on our own bikes here................

I walked around a mate's Harley years ago and paid special attention to the back of the bike. I said "So Col, where do you attach the plough?" I can't repeat his reply here.

Chain from a combine? Strangest thing I've heard in a while.

Sprock, there's no way I'm playing that Wurzels clip! That's even more strange. I bet it was already on your PC anyway...

Nothing wrong with that 530 chain man

So with "530" in the chain part # .......... exactly where is "issue" ???? lol

Devils in the details . Methinks your parts Guy was differentiating between
non Oring std 530 chains and actual oring 530 chains !

But generally speaking anyhow they all usually have nearly the same tensile strength anyhow

All I've ever used on all my road bikes is a good quality heavy duty 'O' ring chain. I keep them well adjusted and regularly lubed with proper spray. Always spray your chain when warm after a ride too. Every time I ride I'm on dirt road (fine granite dust) for a couple of kms and I don't have an issue with chain life.

I'm just too much of a tight **** to fork out perfectly good beer money for an 'X' or 'Z' ring chain.
