Default High speed touring is excellent

The other day I rode approx 600 km in just over 5 hours*. Top speed (on meter) was 240 km/h and over long distances I rode at 210-220 km/h. On tours like this, it's a bit frustrating the gas tank is so small, as it forces you to stop more often than you'd want.

* I was in a hurry to see my Swedish friends (Mikekop, Blue100F and R1000) going to the track at Hälla Ring with their Honda CBR's.

They are great touring bikes - I recently did two 350 K trips in a day, total saddle time was 5 hours 10 minutes. Felt good afterwards, no back pain, bum was a bit numb, otherwise great.
The best touring bike ever built in my opinion.

You did it in Sweden? [&:][8D]

Last time i was in Sweden in April i had to pay a 2000 SEK speeding ticket for driving 85 in 70 zone - and the policeman said that 20 over speed means you loose your license.
So with 240km/h - i can't imagine what they would do to you
In Estonia luckily they start taking us town from + 15 - 20 km/h

Anyway this last trip to Sweden made me thinking that it's the last place in the world i want to drive really fast Although the roads are very good

Yes, it was in Sweden. It was almost only highway cruising and I rode early on a Sunday morning with very few other vehicles but me.

Speeding tickets in Sweden are recently raised and quite expensive. The authorities are very keen on setting up speed cameras on roads with speed limits of 70-90 km/h. If you're only 6 km/h over the speed limit, you're busted! And they would've taken my license for sure, if I were caught.

My 5,25 hours riding was including stops for petrol and food, and my whole body was tired, partly because on Friday I went the opposite direction, but then I got caught in a few traffic jams so then the same distance took me 8 hours.

So the run from Stockholm to Eskilstuna in 14.55 for 82 K's (like Ghost Rider did it) is not good for licences in Sweden , CosmoBob ? he he
Don't they use radios and helicopters, and block off the freeway like they do here ?[X(]
Here you are arrested over 160 KPH, but very few bikes stop, if you're really flying.........
I just paid one for 155 KPH, limit is 120, cost was 1250 SEK equivalent.........and they are raising them again....poor bikers, no fun[X(][X(]
I want a laser disrupter........

I'm not familiar with Ghostrider's ride from Stockholm to Eskilstuna. He is certainly a far better rider than I am. And I guess I'm just lucky sometimes. But honestly I don't think I risked any other person's life than my own this time.

In Sweden the police has publicly stated that they will NOT pursue any bike riding in excess of 160 km/h, claiming it is to dangerous.

And the speed cameras are not set up for bikers, so we are free in that respect.

I just got back the other day from a trip to Prince Edward Island, in Canada. 1800 km each way. The first day each way I was in the saddle for 11 hours and the last day I was in a downpour for 6 hours. The bike (an '87) was flawless other than I got some water in the gas tank because my drain is clogged.

Other that some slight fatigue from wind noise, vibration in my right foot peg and my throttle fingers getting stiff I felt I could have done all 1800 in one go without a problem. I usually cruised around 120-130 kph.

No back pain and surprisingly for me, no sore **** either. I was wearing riding pants over my jeans which was a new thing for me but I think it made it easier on the butt.

No back pain,

Yeah, we've got the same kind of deal here. The cops won't chase if you're doing over about 120mph. I had one tell me once that they see someone going by (especially on a bike) that fast and basically just wait for him to stop himself with the aid of the side of a building. Silly policemen. . .

Boy, not where I'm at. They will chase your *** at all costs. Even if they are endagering people. They do not care one bit. It's relatively easy to burn them, though. I live near a state line, and if you do get caught running across the line, it's a felony.
I push my bike pretty good sometimes, but no more running!

As far as touring. This bike really is great. Definately ride in comfortable pants, though. I've found that some of my pants seem tobemuch more comfortablethan others on the long haul.

I have to go way upstate (about 6hrs) onThursday. I'm seriously considering riding it....
