If you upgrade to a lightbulb that is not 45/45( stock is 45/45) you are asking for trouble. I paid dearly for using 65/55 or so, resulting in R/R problems, battery problems, and a melted wiring harness. Please, heed this warning.

This is so weird, bensben. Stock setup on bulbs in Europe is twin H4 60/55 W. Did they (Honda) install a weaker wiring harness or weaker alternator on US bikes or what?

I am having the exact same issue bensben. I've been out for a while as some might have noticed trying to get my bike up and running again. Well I finally took everything apart and 4 of the wires connecting to the r/r were FRIED. Only thing it could be is the bulbs (65/55s). In the process of replacing the r/r and batt. [/hijack]

Typically the HID conversions are expen$ive and don't work well. They are generic and hard to aim properly so you either blind oncoming traffic and **** them off or you have a short pattern that offers less light spread then the stock bulbs. HID lights that are offered as OEM are engineered packages that have the proper diffusion and lenses.
There are other choices such as a set of auxillary PIAA lights run off a relay. They are the choice of most iron butt guys because they give the best lighting without the hassles of HID.
