I'm not sure for your model, Karl, but if you go to
www.mrcycles.com
and look up the 88 model, they have parts drawings and lists.
A quick check would be to swap the coils over to the other plugs, and see if the problem goes to another cylinder - if so, coil's faulty.Change ALL the connections when swapping the coils over If it's been humid, you may be getting "arcing" from the broken plug cap to earth.....

Good morning
Actually it was the number 3 cyclinder wire that was causing the havoc. The insulator was borken at 2 disctinct places. What i did is took a plastic tube split it open and fit it around the insulator then put some electrical tape around it. Ran like a charm, today , i am going to call for a coil or inspect it and seal the problem place with urethane.
Had to use the plastic part tube on a sunday ,because every dealer was closed here, so had to get thinkering 101 going here lol
