Hello and help!
Howdy all, new member with a problem. Had my 88 thou for nearly a year with no major problems, but last week it started to play up. When accelerating hard the bike seems starved of fuel, if I accelerate slowly will play ball but only up to about 60mph. Kinda feels like the main jets are full of crap but won't clear.
I suspected the fuel pump at first so have removed that but it has made no difference.
Any ideas?

Hi,
without hearing your bike I would suggest either fuel line/filter or the carbs.
Have you checked the lines are ok? Is there a filter fitted, if so is it clean? Are the carbs in need of synchronising or cleaning?

Did you see that catworst, they all jump in and try to help without so much as a by-your-leave.
I guess I'll have to do it.
Welcome to the CBR Forum catworst.
Now to the problem. Probably filter based, if you switch the petcock to reserve is it better? If so, gunk in the filter. If not, may be some sh*t in the carbies, which may require a rebuild. Then look at the electrics.
Cheers, SB

Thanks for the welcome. The tank isn't vacuum locked and appears to be rust free. The bikes runs rough with the tap in both positions. I sprayed some carb cleaner in and it seems to be slightly better but still no where near right. Gonna get it to a mechanic as it's beyond me really.
Forgot to say, my bike has no fairing so I've no idea which was in on and which is reserve!

12 oclock is on , 3 oclock is off 6 oclock is reserve.
Well no vac lock leaves a thorough carb cleaning mains , pilots , pilot needles and
most often forgotten about ........ the float valve screens
Also check the carb diaphragms for rips or tears and don't let carb cleaner near them.
